Overmarine’s new project with the 33 metre yacht of the GranSport line represents the entry level while sporting the same features and notable performance of her sister ships of the same line as well as their elegant lines and remarkable range.
When in 1985 the Balducci’s founded the Mangusta brand, the fastest and most powerful open power boats at the time were Tecnomarine’s Cobra line. The mongoose as we all know is the only animal that can beat a cobra and the choice of the new brand name was taken a challenge by those perceived as being invincible.

The Mangusta proved itself from the start by appearing on the scene with an 80’ which at the time was a record and was not only the longest overall but also the most powerful, fastest and most comfortable yacht. From then on every boat which was launched from one of Overmarine’s ten yards was recognized for having something special when not unique: aesthetics, performance, comfort and high technology.
The Mangusta 33 is no exception judging by the results obtained a few weeks ago during the Fort Lauderdale preview to the boat show. The interiors were designed by the Group’s in house design team and Alberto Mancini’s precious contribution. Considering the remainder of the fleet the Mangusta GranSport 33 is the smallest and perhaps enhances added value thanks to its more limited size.
Even if it’s the smallest of the line it manages to deliver the same degree of comfort the large ones have. This result, a realistic milestone thanks to the choices made at the drawing board where the interiors and exteriors link admirably but not only thanks to ease of movement throughout the interiors but above all thanks to unique design work that transpires in every corner.
A determined choice laden with personality which is most perceivable everywhere below deck but is also a brave one for having situated the owner’s elegant, comfortable and brightly lit suite of more than 40 square metres along the main deck’s bow section offering an unusually panoramic sea view. The guests’ quarters are situated below along the lower deck and comprise four doubles while the owner’s privacy is total without becoming isolation thanks to its proximity with the living room area featuring floor to ceiling window like ports. Two of these can be opened/closed at will to enhance natural ventilation. The galley has also been envisaged on this same level while the stern end section reveals a grand cockpit equipped with wet bar and dining table.
The 56 square metre flybridge is another distinguishing element which makes it very versatile and polyvalent in two versions a closing one and an opening one. The first version was chosen for an American owner with a semi covering protective structure and a living room and television set while the open area hosts a Jacuzzi tub, an equipped sunbathing spot and corner bar. From here, access to the bow section further forward is direct since the two areas are situated on the same level. In addition to an attractive style there’s also a sense of continuity and multifunctional usage of all the external spaces. In fact the bow section of the GranSport comprises a pool and hydro-massage facility contoured by another sun bathing area; opposite which there’s a lounge area with a sofa and table. It has been conceived as an area in which to socialize just as much as the cockpit and flybridge are.
Below the cockpit there’s a 28 square metre garage with room enough for a 5.65 metre long tender and two jet ski. As for performance according to the yard a top speed of 25 knots is doable while a recommended cruising speed of 21 knots should deliver a range of approximately 330 nautical miles with four Volvo Penta D13 1000 IB engines linked to as many Volvo Penta Ips Pods. Given the high degree of technology employed, with the power system which reportedly optimises fuel consumption while enhancing comfort thanks to low vibration and reduced decibels throughout the speed range.
This well devised package system requires less room which can be exploited for other equipment in the engine room. The Mangusta GranSport is equipped with an efficient Volvo Penta joystic docking system and dynamic positioning which keeps the yacht in place without having to use an anchor.
Overmarine Group has sought to offer the most in terms of comfort also when not underway thanks to four zero speed Humphree stabilizer fins. In a nutshell, performance with technology comfort and a considerable range of refined equipment accrue harmony and the natural elegance of this yacht’s lines.
